Productive at home: Improve your French during lockdown

Bonjour à toutes et à tous! Today, I wanted to introduce you to some activities, how to stay productive at home and websites to visit during the coronavirus lockdown. Staying at home does not mean that you should be slacking off. On the contrary,  being confined can be a good reason to be productive at home and do the things that we normally “don’t have the time to do“.

Productive at home: comment rester productif à la maison?

One of the best things to do in order to be productive at home, and I always seem to be insisting on this particular point, is improving your language skills. If you’re bored of Netflix, there are different ways to keep yourself busy and productive, plus, if you have some extra time on your plate, learning French can actually be fun. Take a look at the table of contents on the left side of the article and check out all of the good (free) resources that I have gathered especially for you!
 

1. For beginners

First and foremost, let’s dive into what you can read to be productive at home in your language learning journey as a beginner.
 

Podcast français facile – This website is an absolute gem! You will find French texts for beginners with awesome worksheets.
Le Journal en français facile – Or how to read the news in easy French.
Il était une histoire – Stories and texts in easy French.
Mon cartable du net – Downloadable PDF texts to read.

b. What to watch

Karambolage – Fun short videos about different topics, brought to you by the channel Arte.
Apprendre avec TV5 Monde – Learn French with TV5 Monde, a French television channel which can be accessed from anywhere around the world.
 

c. What to listen

Les chansons d’Alain le lait – Amazing songs in French to help you memorize the basics.
Les plus belles chansons françaises – The most beautiful French songs.

LUMNI : Les fondamentaux du français – Learn French the basics of French grammar and vocabulary.

Le Collège de France – Des cours de grands professeurs sur un large choix de thématiques.

Dear parents, in these hard times, you also have the privilege of enjoying your children, full time. It may be a little difficult for you to find activities while you are trying to stay productive at home.
